YAY!! I just found a picture of a Green Spiky Thing! Here it is:

Awsome, is it not? Ah, yes, by the way, their seeds explode if you throw them in a fire! (I found this out as my friend Allison and I were expressing our inner pyromaniacs.) Oh, and apparently, the actual name for them is wild cucumber.

    the cucumbers they have explosive propeller power when mature
    at touch....
    no need to put the unripe pods in the fire

    Different kind of wild cucumber I think. I know the kind you're talking about. Even if it is the same kind, I'm talking about the seeds inside the green spikey thing.
