Ah well, since nobody is answering the dipper question I suppose I'll tell the answer. It was: Both the Big and Little Dippers are asterisms. Asterisms are
parts of constellations. The Dippers are parts of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, the Big Bear and the Little Bear.
I Knew that!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteObviously, since I told you it like a million times. XDDDD
ReplyDeleteOoh! That's fascinating. Clara, you should submit that to the newsletter for Random Fact of the Month!
ReplyDeleteTheres a random fact of the month?!!! If I had only known earlier. XD
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be a trouble-maker and suggest that while they may indeed be asterisms, they can also be their *own* constellations at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI dunno, thats just the term for them. There may well be cultures that have different constellations from us, it's just that their not official constellations, thats all.
